Ty Cobb Healthcare System, Inc. has teamed up with Longstreet Inpatient Medicine of Gainesville, Georgia to provide full time hospitalists services at both Cobb Memorial Hospital and Hart County Hospital. The Longstreet Inpatient Medicine program consists of internal medicine physicians who specialize in caring for patients during their hospital stay. These hospitalists work as partners with your physician to provide you with the highest standard of care during your hospital stay.
When admission to the hospital is necessary, your primary care physician may refer your care to a Longstreet Medicine internist. Once admitted to either Cobb Memorial Hospital or Hart County Hospital, the Longstreet Inpatient Medicine group will be in charge of your care and see you daily. Since Longstreet Inpatient Medicine internists do not maintain an outpatient practice, they are more readily available to respond to labs, test results and emergency situations of hospital patients. By also maintaining close relationships with referring physicians and other medical professionals, Longstreet Inpatient Medicine internists provide an added level of continuous care with enhanced availability to you, family members and your primary care doctor.
According to Practice Manager, Marylynn Casula, “The philosophy of the Longstreet Inpatient Medicine practice is to strive to provide the highest quality of care to its patients in collaboration with their primary care physicians, specialists within the hospital setting and the hospital personnel.” “We see our role to include facilitation, advocacy and management of inpatient care for patients and their families,” said Casula.
“We are eager to expand the hospitalist program, said Chuck Adams, Chief Executive Officer at Ty Cobb Healthcare System. “We began a weekend hospitalist program in May, where local physician, Dr. David Stone (formerly of Hartwell Family Practice), cared for inpatients at both Cobb Memorial Hospital and Hart County Hospital from Friday night through Monday morning.” “The weekend hospitalist program has been very successful – the local physicians, staff, and patients have been pleased with the program thus far and are excited about its expansion,” said Adams.
At both Cobb Memorial Hospital and Hart County Hospital Dr. David Stone will continue to provide weekend hospitalist services and the Longstreet Inpatient Medicine group will provide hospitalist services Monday through Friday starting January 1, 2010.
